Due to time constraints Peter is primarily interested in working alongside innovative and creative groups who are eager to engage seriously with challenging theoretical concepts and prepared to experiment with ground-breaking forms of faith practice.

He enjoys working in a wide variety of settings and spends much of his time speaking at Conferences, Universities, Seminaries, Cohorts, Retreats and Churches. In line with this diversity Peter is able to communicate his message in a variety of ways (including sermons, one-off talks, lectures, weekend retreats, workshops, consultancy and University level courses). In each case his only requirement is to work alongside groups who are ready to wrestle with the material and, where appropriate, put it into practice. You will find, listed below, a brief description of the various settings that Peter works within.

If you would be interested in engaging with his work please contact Alyson McElroy (Europe) or Laci Scott (Rest of World).

Universities and Seminaries

Over the years Peter has taught on a wide variety of subjects, including religious philosophy, contemporary theology, hermeneutics, ethics, existentialism, post-structuralism and psychoanalytic theory. He is able to teach one-off seminars or whole modules and often supervises postgraduate dissertations.

Churches and Retreats

In this context Peter blends storytelling, parables, theology, and poetry in order to explore the life of faith in accessible ways. When engaged in retreats Peter also makes use of interactive practices that are designed to help the material penetrate beyond mere intellectual affirmation.

Conferences

Peter is a sought after speaker at conferences and has spoken widely across the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia and Canada. He speaks at conferences aimed at both theorists and practitioners. The topics he addresses include the areas of leadership, church development, practical theology, institutional transformation, innovation and communication as well as topics related to biblical interpretation, contemporary culture and spiritual maturity.

Consultancy

From time to time Peter works alongside groups who are interested in assessing their strengths and weaknesses and engage in significant structural change. Where appropriate Peter works alongside his colleague Jonny McEwen. Jonny is an artist and facilitator with years of experience in community relations, conflict management and diversity training. He has particular expertise in creative approaches to problem solving and has developed many innovative techniques and projects. Jonny is one of the prime influences behind ikon and has done extensive work alongside charities, political organisations and businesses who wish to implement structural change. In addition to this his paintings can be found in many significant public and private collections.

Workshops

Peter also offers workshops that introduce people to the mechanisms involved in developing provocative, artistic and transformative faith gatherings. These workshops are generally offered alongside one or more talks so that groups can gain insight into the theoretical importance of the activities they are being equipped to develop. When a group seeks in-depth training Peter often works alongside Jonny McEwen. The workshops are specially tailored to both unlock the unique skills already present in those attending and to help develop new skills.
