I loved the book, and just finished reading your most recent one! I wish I had more time to interact more on my blog with what you’ve written, but perhaps at some point in the future…

I just finished reading “The Fidelity of Betrayal”. I did enjoy it very much and found it quite challenging. Anyone who is a “friend” of Judas is a friend of mine.

I was wondering though – how have authors like Jacques Ellul and Richard Kearney influenced your thoughts in this book. Specifically, Kearney’s insights on “The God Who May Be” and Ellul’s “The Subversion of Christianity” (with his dialogue about contradictory truths held in tension).

    thanks for this book.

    Hey Jerrod

Ellul has not been much of an influence primarily because I have not read much of his stuff, but I think I would enjoy it if I did. Kearney is more of an influence insomuch as his work is part of my theoretical background (indeed I did a Masters course under him once). I very much enjoyed The God Who May Be. He is a great writer and a lovely guy. He has not been a direct influence in the sense that Caputo and Zizek have been but Kearney’s work does resonate with me.

    Peter,

I read a really interesting interview with Zizek in El Pais (a spanish newspaper). One quick question: If you had to recommend a book by Zizek for non-initiated, which one would it be?

    Thanks.
