Just listened to your intro> that was profound! Love the startling phrases> just as one person’s idol is another person’s ikon,so one’s person’s fable is one person’s parable.Having been on a 39 yr journey & quest to find more of Christ & his manifest presence & authentic Christian community,I have heard too many sermons. Many were good but many were self serving to the program & some were cultic.Thank God I escaped with my soul intact.Liked your insights onwhat parables are. It’s notable that in all the years of sermons, only one was attempted on a parable. it was Mat 13>parable of the soils of the heart. They turned it into a message on evangelism, cuz they think that is the highest priority.Sad day in the Church.Frank Viola’s book “From Here To Eternity” is worth reading Peter,It touches on God’s Eternal Purpose never talked about seen or heard.I like that you said parables have no one interpretation, the western analytical, linear mind can’t handle that. So you must have a little of that Eastern mind that Jesus had lol Also as a Californian >love your Irish accent so eloquent compared to us .I know posts are short but I’m so full of joy having discovered a philosopher who talks about the stuff I was told was unbelief & doubt & too much questioning. How come Jesus almost always answered a question with another question? To shatter false pre-suppositions!
